London-based artist reworks opening track of his sixth full-length Wasted Space
Having recently returned from his second European tour in support of his sixth full-length, 2018’s Wasted Space – the first tour being back in September as a co-headline run with Oakland space-rockers Lumerians – The Oscillation is now sharing a new remix of the album’s opening track, ‘Entity.’ Clocking in at nearly seven-minutes, Demian’s reworking of ‘Entity’ sees him take the song – already a malevolent hallucinogenic nightmare – and drag it into even more dark, abrasive and amplified territory.
An ominous soundtrack to a depraved party spiralling out of control at the edge of the universe, ‘Entity (Moron mix)’ is driven by pounding repetitive drums and a warped unrelenting bassline that pulses through a backdrop of far-out synths, random stabs of guitar and the murmur of Demian’s vocals which are so submerged in effects they’re barely distinguishable. You can check it out below.
Talking about the remix Demian says: “I had been listening to quite a lot of Killing Joke when making the album and I think it rubbed off on this track. I wanted to explore the heavier industrial aspects of it and to bring up some of the distorted harmonics and raw guitar noise. I also felt there was quite a moronic, repetitive disco element to the original that I wanted to extend and play with.â€
Consistently forward-thinking in pushing psychelia to the brink, The Oscillation’s sixth album Wasted Space – released back in September 2018 – sees the London-based artist jump between muscular grooves and industrial walls of sound, and moments of sprawling kosmische ambient. If you’re yet to add it to your collection, you can buy the album on vinyl below.
The Oscillation will return to this year’s Fuzz Club Eindhoven on Aug 23rd & 24th, joining the likes of Iceage, Kikagaku Moyo, The KVB, Night Beats and more.
